This family-oriented day of fun takes place in Yantic at the Fireman's Field, next to the Yantic Fire Department. The Great Duck Race is held in conjunction with a chicken barbeque sponsored by the Yantic Fire Department. There will also be a variety of contests, children's activities, games, arts, and crafts, and music to keep spectators entertained right up until the Great Duck Race begins. Last year there were about 2000 people in attendance.

TICKETS: Tickets are being sold at area banks and are only $10 a ticket for a chance to win over $6000 in prizes, which will be given out that day. Please click here to see where tickets are being sold.

Coloring Contest Rules: The Coloring Contest is for children in grades K-3rd in the Norwich Public Schools. Please click here to view the coloring contest rules.

3000 rubber ducks will be launched into the Yantic River. Each duck corresponds to a raffle ticket. The first 10 ducks across the finish line will win a prize! Ducks start at the beginning of the field and end behind the Yantic River Fire Department.

The Yantic River Fire Department will be sponsoring a chicken BBQ!

The all new Motorized Duck Race Division

Entry fee is $150, starts at 1:00pm

All powered duck entries must be submitted and paid in full no later than TBD.

Motorized Duck entries must fit "as it floats" in official sizing box. Interior of sizing box dimensions will be 15" long x 12" wide. No height restrictions. Any power source is fine so long as the public is not put in immediate danger. After duck is
sized and accepted it will be surrendered until race time. All entries must be checked in by 9AM on May 3, 2014. Race will begin at 1pm sharp.

Each duck will require a designated handler to begin the race with in order to start, power up, or otherwise energize and orient the duck before the starting gate is lifted and the race begins.

First Duck to completely enter the finish line chute shall be declared the sole winner of the race.

The winner will receive 50% of entry fees collected for the powered duck category.
